This is a Problem of Inner Ear and It is an inflammation of labyrinth. This is known as LABYRINTHITIS

Etiology and Risk Factors

  • Heavy alcoholism
  • Extreme stress
  • Infections-bacterial, viral with in ear
  • Smoke
  • A history of allergies
  • Respiratory disorders
  • Bacterial infections.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Loss of balance
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty in focusing
  • Tinnitus
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
  • Paralysis
  • Loss of Coordination and Control
  • Double vision
  • Convulsions
  • Slurred speech
  • Fainting.

Diagnostic Evaluation

  • History collection
  • Physical examination
  • Hearing tests
  • Blood test
  • CT scan of head
  • MRI Of Head
  • Electroencephalogram (EEG)
  • Electronystagmography (ENT).

Management

  • Antihistamines such as desloratadine (Clarinex)
  • Reducing dizziness and nausea such as meclozine (Antivert)
  • Sedatives such as diazepam
