Chalazion is disorder of meibomian gland in Eye characterized by inflammation of meibomian gland
Etiology/ Risk Factors
- Viral infections
- Contaminated hands
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Positive history of chalazia.
Signs and Symptoms
- Increased sensitivity to lighting
- Excessive Secretion of water
Presence of hard lump in eyelid.
- Blurry vision.
Diagnostic Evaluation
- Physical examination
- History collection
- Eye examination
- Presence of symptoms
Management
Ignore if chalazion is asymptomatic otherwise following measures to treat:
- Apply moist heat
- Massage of lid
- Topical mild steroid drops should be used
- Intralesional steriod injection
- Vertical incision and drainage.
