BLEPHARITIS

Blepharitis is the inflammation or Swelling of Eye Lids, this disease known as eye lids Disease or Blepharitis Shown in Image.

Types

Anterior eye inflammation: This inflammation occurs outside of eye near the location eyelashes.

Posterior eyelid inflammation: 

Inflammation in inner corners of eyes.

Etiology/Risk Factors

  Hormonal imbalances
  Obstruction of oil gland present in eye
  Bacterial infection
  Side effects of drugs
  Malfunctioning of oil glands
  Licé on eyelashes
  Dandruff on scalp or eyebrows.

Classification

  Squamous blepharitis: Through the seborrhea and abnormal metabolism.

  Ulcerative blepharitis: It occurs due to infections.

Signs and Symptoms

  Burning sensation in the eye
  Blurry vision
  Swelling of eye
  Dry eyes
  Redness in eyelids
  Itching in eyelids
  Watery eyes
  Photophobia
  Sensitivity to light
  Oily eielids

  Feel like something is in eyes.

Diagnostic Evaluation

  History collection
  Physical examination
  CBC

Management

• Antibiotics (ointment, and tablets)
• Remove the crusts, scales, and affected lashes by lid margin bathing. 3% sodium bicarbonate solution is used for bathing.

Nursing Management

  Advise patient – maintain personal care
  Treat the dandruff with in scalp
  Avoid unnecessary touching of eye.

  Complications

  Eyelash loss
  Chronic pink eye
  Astye-itarer 3roregitte
  Scarring on the eyelid

  Prevention

  Remove all eye makeup before go to sleep
  Avoid the use of eyeliner
  Keep eyelids clean.
